Byld signs José María Aguirre as Partner and Executive Chairman

Madrid, 10 de noviembre de 2022

Byld, the first corporate venture builder in Spain, with more than five years of experience launching startups, introduces José María Aguirre, CEO of Atina Ventures since 2010, a holding company that invests in different stages of the life cycle of companies, from seed stage investments to expansion stage or Pre-IPOs, as well as market actions, as its main partner. The entry of the investor, who will play an executive role, coincides with a moment in which Byld is in a maturity phase, with the expectation of growing exponentially over the next few years, and in which it is preparing the launch of three new businesses together with corporations.

Aguirre has more than 30 years of experience in different sectors and a solid background in banking, automotive, logistics, venture capital and startups.

His career has been linked to solid corporations such as Bank of America or Deutsche Bank – where he was Managing Director GCI Corporate Banking. He then moved his career to Astara (former Bergé Group), a mobility and distribution solutions company, where he held the position of Chief Executive Officer. Subsequently, he held the position of CEO of Serdetec, the company’s Technology Incubator and Venture Builder, where he incubated successful projects such as Next Limit, Adtiviti, Ecofloat, Quercus Tech and Manheim Spain.

He then left the corporate world to continue his career in the Venture Capital and startup ecosystem in California. There he was part of the entrepreneurial arm of Stanford (Local Food Lab) as a mentor, where he actively participated in the gestation of several American companies in the Foodtech sector. Among them are OCHO Candy (organic chocolate brand), Peeled Snacks, Bucha (beverage sector), Caviar (food delivery company), Clean Plates (nutrition) and Bevspot (restaurant ERP).

Back in Spain, he was part of the Investment Committee of Enzo Ventures, and is a partner of the leading parking technology multinational Quercus Technologies.

He also holds active investments in several disruptive companies such as Closca (environmental impact brand), MyTripleA (leading crowdlending platform), Citibox (startup offering a solution to last mile logistics) and Fashionalia (B2C phygital fashion player).

“It is a privilege to join as a senior partner and participate in such an innovative project that will undoubtedly transform and accelerate the growth of many companies. My experience accompanying startups and helping large corporations in their growth strategy adds to the differential offer that Byld proposes. We have a very exciting future and Byld will undoubtedly become the star that will lead the way as a benchmark in Corporate Venture Building“, says José María Aguirre.

For his part, the CEO of the company, Adrián Heredia, comments: “We are very excited about the incorporation of José María to the project. From the beginning we both saw it clearly and, in the months that we have been collaborating, his experience in the corporate world and startups is giving us a lot of value. It comes at a key moment for Byld, we feel that our model has matured a lot and now the market is ready for Corporate Venture Building. We expect a few months of very aggressive growth and, hand in hand with fellow travelers like him, we will row with more enthusiasm than ever”.

So far, Byld has created several companies in different sectors. In the electric mobility sector, Wattson, an ultra-fast on-demand charging service for electric vehicles, stands out. This project has been supported by Porsche Ibérica, which has accompanied the Spanish corporate venture builder in the process from the beginning.

Another of them is Blas, from the real estate sector. It is a digital platform that manages home rentals for both owners and tenants. The startup has been created together with Innomads, the innovation hub of the PropTech sector that counts among its partners with six leading real estate agencies nationwide: Grupo Forcadell, Anzizu, Arnal, Amat, Masifill and Bourgeois.

In addition, in the coming months, with Aguirre as Byld’s main partner, which will focus on the scalability of the project, three new businesses are expected to be launched.
